The fights in Motorcity are really inspiring.  I had to try to animate one on my own.

Titmouse's "Motorcity" - Rough Animation from Aaron Brewer on Vimeo.

With the airing of the final episode of Titmouse's "Motorcity" on Disney XD, I can start posting some of the stuff I worked on. This is the very first sequence I animated and it's a pretty heavy moment in the episode and series but I really enjoyed the challenge.

Kungfumation

Haven't posted in a while but I definitely haven't stopped drawing.  Here's another Kungfu motion test.  I love those moments in Kungfu movies where two fighters do a series of moves and stances to demonstrate their style before attacking.  Completely useless in a real fight but I can't help but geek out when they're done well.  Thought I'd try to animate one of those moments to work on my timing.  Prob won't clean this up any time soon.

I think the toughest part about animating these moves is combining speed and clarity.  The transitions between strikes and stances have to be clear, smooth and pack some force.  I guess that's the case with anything you animate but it's taking a lot of trial and error with this kungfu stuff.  You can see I started numbering out my drawings and using timing charts but abandoned it once I started breaking stuff down and redrawing poses.  A nice chunk of the final product came from feeling things out. I'm aspiring to get to a point where I can understand the movements enough to efficiently plot out the poses and timing in the beginning.

Working on some lip sync

Cocoon of Horror from Aaron Brewer on Vimeo.

I've been wanting to animate to this dialogue track for quite some time now but never got around to it for one reason or another. Probably a bit intimidated by the notion of doing full facial animation. Now that I've finally done it, I can't wait to do more! I'm definitely going to clean this up, sooner rather than later. Gonna keep pushing myself.

Keep an eye out for some action stuff in the next month or two.

Had the urge to doodle.

Choreography

I've been plugging away at this fight scene. I roughly drew out all of the moves just so I could have a visual. Was a bit difficult trying to map it out in my head. Next step is to plot out the attack and defend poses for the two characters. I'll post that once I finish.

Braaaaiiiiinnnnnnnssssss

So I'm doing some flyers for my friend Daren Taylor's play. These are the two that he wanted me to flesh out. I'll post the final versions when I finish.

Kick Sweep Pose

Kick Sweep Pose from Aaron Brewer on Vimeo.

So my compadres and I have begun working on an animated Kungfu flick. We are still in the writing phase. As that process continues to move along, I'm continuing to work on the feel of the animation. There will be plenty more of these to come.

Dancing Fella

So I finally finished the animation using those hands I posted a while back. I kept hearing the song playing over and over in my head thanks to those t-mobile commercials. Thought it would be a good opportunity to work on some more detailed and layered animation.

Big Boss

Here are some designs I've been working on for the comic version of BlackGhost. This is the boss man Omar.

Comic Time

Here are a few pages from a horror comic I just finished for my friend Rick Ritter's book. All in all, this was a great experience and I would love to do more. Learned quite a bit about storytelling but it definitely put a spot light on my drawing weaknesses. Gives me something to work on.

Dance Hands

Haven't posted anything in a while. Here is some design stuff I was working on for this little animation clip, plus a few faces from my commute. I'll post the animation as soon as I finish it.

Kungfu Fun

I really really want to do an animated Kungfu film. I have this clear vision of how the characters would move in my head, so I did this test to see if I could recreate the vision on paper. I'm pretty happy with the timing but I want to try it with a fleshed out character.

ODB

I recently got the opportunity to do some work for a potential rap video featuring the late great Ol' Dirty Bastard. The project fell through before it got to the animation phase but I got some decent designs out of it. Here are some of the sketches.

Bootleg Hut

Hey, I just completed a quickie for my friends Ian J. and Jim Grisel's web series Nockforce. Check out their site and watch their other episodes, they're great!

Munny for Bryan

So I recently completed another Munny. This time it was for a friend of mine. Below are pictures of the process. The idea was to make the costume look as if a kid made it, so I included a lot of little things like tape to make the stripes and string to hold the goggles on. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

Sling Shot

Here is one of the scenes I did for a project recently. I definitely enjoyed working on this. I hadn't animated in a while so this gave me a good jump start. Can't get better if you don't practice.

FINISHED!!!!!!!!

So I finally finished the Munny for my sister. Had a lot of fun with my first painting project. I really like how the skateboard came out and I must give thanks to Lorin for the caution tape idea. Next up is a skate deck.
